Categories and entry fees (2012)

  1. Solo: R1 950 (students/under23s: R1 560)
  2. Relay (four swimmers @ R800 each): R3 200 per team. Scholars or under 23s: R640 each or R2 560 per team
  • Open no wetsuits and Open wetsuits: R3 200 per team (scholars and under 23s: R2 560 per team)
  • Corporate relay (wetsuits optional): R4000 per team
  • Schools relay (preferably with wetsuits. Participants must be between 12 and 18 years-old): R2 560 per team
  • Note: Entry fee covers the following:
  • All event logistics and planning
  • Safety on the water in the form of official and emergency vessels – including an NSRI “hospital” boat
  • Safety on shore in the form of a fully equipped medical facility with doctors, nurses and other staff
  • A contingent of lifesavers both on the water and on shore
  • Cost of ferry ticket to Robben Island (Solos)
  • Double ticket to awards ceremony which includes a meal
  • Goodie bag and contents
  • Beanie and Cadiz Freedom Swim medal
  • T-shirt
  • Film of the event to be aired on SuperSport
  • Official towel
  • Official swim cap
